Getting On Well

 

‘Getting on Well’ supports people over 60 years old at risk of isolation or ill health living in Creggan, Bogside, Brandywell and Fountain areas of Derry to improve their health and wellbeing.

Programmes include:

•A social gardening project that supports people to grow their own vegetables. People also come together for tea and a chat about gardening.

•A health and exercise programme tailored to meet individual needs. These are run in our own gym in a group or 1-1 basis, or at people's homes if they are not quite ready to come to our gym.

•A 'Managing the Challenge' programme that supports people with long term conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, COPD etc. that also provides complementary therapies to relieve pain and stress.

•A luncheon club that provides a full meal at a discounted price.

•The Monday Club provides a range of activities and events weekly such as bowling, quizzes, bingo, games etc.

•A Men's Club and a Men's Shed that provides a space for men to come together and participate in a wide range of activities including woodcraft, bowling, courses and classes, games, as well as a chat and lunch.

•An intervention and support programme during difficult winter weather and community based initiatives during the summer period
